  On the 30th, Ganz revealed to the Israeli media that during his talks with Palestinian President Yasser Abbas on the 29th, he promised that Israel would take a series of "goodwill gestures", including providing loans to the Palestinians and approving 16,000 Palestinians to work in Israel.

  Ganz said that the purpose of his talks with Abbas was to build mutual trust in the absence of a peace agreement between the two sides.

  According to a statement issued by the Israeli Defense Minister’s Office in the early hours of the 30th, Ganz and Abbas held two rounds of talks in Ramallah, during which the two sides discussed the "security, social and economic situation" in the West Bank and the Gaza. The statement quoted Ganz as saying that "Israel is prepared to take a series of measures to promote the Palestinian economy".

  In July this year, the Israeli security cabinet decided to freeze the transfer of 597 million new shekels (about 183 million US dollars) to Palestine to collect taxes. This "punishment" measure used by Israel has caused the Palestinian side to fall into financial difficulties.  

  After Abbas met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the United States in 2010, the leaders of the two sides never met directly again. In 2014, the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority broke down and have not resumed.
