Food safety is the topic of greatest concern to ordinary people, and the cases exposed at the "3.15 Consumer Rights Day" special evening in Gansu Province are related to rapeseed oil.
Gansu Province is located in the hinterland of the northwest, and rapeseed oil is one of the main oil types consumed locally. The reporter’s investigation found that the price of rapeseed oil from different manufacturers is also uneven, some are 275 yuan a barrel (20 liters), and some are 230 yuan. What is the reason for this?
Informed sources helped reporters calculate an account:
"The cost of our (local) rapeseed oil is 7 yuan (one catty); if we buy the leached genetically modified, the cost to Gansu is also 6 yuan.
Look at 230 yuan a barrel: our barrel is 5 yuan, 225 yuan, except that the net oil inside is 18.5 kilograms, at 6 yuan a jin, does he still make money? "
The reporter also checked the domestic futures price of rapeseed oil. Taking the current price as a reference, the reporter also roughly calculated that the cost of 20 liters of rapeseed oil has exceeded 200 yuan before calculating various expenses such as logistics and packaging. So how do these merchants make money?
"It’s shoddy and pretend," said one person familiar with the matter.
What is the purpose of these producers adding soybean oil and cottonseed oil to rapeseed oil?
"Because soya oil is cheaper than rapeseed oil, the price difference [per catty] is more than 3 yuan, and it is a huge profit for our industry to make a [money] per catty," said a person familiar with the matter.
In order to confirm the clues provided by informed sources, the reporter visited many grain and oil wholesale markets and farmers’ markets in Gansu Province.
The reporter visited a number of grain and oil markets in Baiyin City, Gansu Province, and found that the price of rapeseed oil was between 265 yuan and 320 yuan, and all merchants promised to sell pure rapeseed oil that was not adulterated.
In the end, the reporter bought a barrel of mellow rapeseed oil called "Laoshandan" at a price of 265 yuan, and a barrel of fragrant rapeseed oil called "Longke Banquet" at a price of 245 yuan.
And when most dealers hear that the reporter buys rapeseed oil for use in restaurants, they are not shy about the situation where rapeseed oil is mixed with other vegetable oils.
Then the reporter contacted a rapeseed oil manufacturer priced at 210 yuan and went to the factory as a purchaser.
In the humble factory building, the reporter saw some workers finishing the cooking oil.
The person in charge of the factory said: "To be honest with the cost, it is not pure rapeseed oil. Now [the ingredients] are large-scale rapeseed oil and small oil squeezed by ourselves, and the second ingredient is soybean oil.
Now the price of cottonseed oil is the same as that of soybean oil. Cottonseed oil is not resistant to freezing, and we usually add soybean oil. So it is basically about 200-205 oil. (In a barrel of oil) The two rapeseed oils together can account for 50%. "
The reporter bought a barrel of pure fragrant rapeseed oil called "Manyuanxiang" from the factory for 200 yuan. The person in charge of the factory mentioned that the same situation existed in Shandan’s edible oil production plant, and the reporter immediately rushed to Shandan County.
In Shandan County, the person in charge of an edible oil factory quoted 240 yuan for the pure fragrance, 260 yuan for the strong fragrance, which is about 80% rapeseed oil (content), and the remaining 20% is soybean oil.
During the subsequent visit, the reporter found that the number of large-scale edible oil production enterprises in Shandan County was relatively small, and most of them were small edible oil processing plants.
After the investigation, the reporter brought rapeseed oil purchased at the sales and production ends of the three places to the Gansu Provincial Food Inspection and Research Institute.
Four days later, the main components and characteristics of rapeseed oil were tested and the results were released.
The test showed that the palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid in the pure fragrant rapeseed oil of "Manyuanxiang" did not meet the national standard, the palmitic acid in the mellow rapeseed oil of "Laoshandan" did not meet the national standard, and the oleic acid and linoleic acid in the fragrant rapeseed oil of "Longkeyan" did not meet the national standard.
On March 11, the Zhangye Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau conducted a surprise inspection of edible vegetable oil manufacturers within its jurisdiction, and will deal with the problems found during the inspection according to law and order rectification.
On the evening of March 14, the Baiyin District Market Supervision Bureau organized law enforcement officers to act quickly and carry out special project inspections of edible vegetable oils for the three brands of edible oils in Zhangye City and Shandan County, Manyuanxiang, Laoshandan and Longkeyan, which were exposed at the special evening. All the products involved in the problem were removed from the shelves, and the "dirty and poor" oil mill in the processing environment was ordered to rectify within a time limit.
