Hainan’s tourist highway around the island is characterized by offshore, and a good marine environment is equally important.

"In recent years, Hainan has strengthened the protection and construction of beautiful bays, and the quality of marine ecological environment has continued to improve. In 2023, the water quality in Hainan’s coastal waters was generally excellent." Di Weijie, deputy director of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Hainan Province, said that in order to better protect the beautiful bay, Hainan has coordinated the verification and rectification of sewage outlets into the sea and the prevention and control of mariculture pollution, and has included 1985 sewage outlets into the sea in the supervision list, urging coastal cities and counties to carry out investigation and rectification. At the same time, the mandatory local standard "Aquaculture Tailwater Discharge Standard" will be implemented to further standardize the aquaculture tail water discharge and environmental supervision.

In order to maximize the value of tourist roads around the island, on December 25, 2023, the Interim Measures for the Management of Tourist Roads in Hainan Province was officially promulgated to systematically guide and standardize the development of tourist roads. Hainan will also draw up plans to lead the development of tourism, such as the Industrial Development Plan of Tourism Highway Around the Island Version 2.0, the Development Plan of Kangyang Tourism Industry, and the Tourism Product System Plan of Tropical Rainforest National Park Belt around Hainan.

On January 17th, Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film and Sports released the LOGO (logo) of Hainan Island Tourism Highway-"Pearl of the South China Sea" to the world. In LOGO modeling, the combination of waves and roads looks like a crown and a beautiful garland, and the billowing waves seem to hold up a pearl. "We hope to enhance the awareness and recognition of the external image of Hainan Island Tourism Highway through brand identification." According to the relevant person in charge of the Tourism Department of Hainan Province, this year, Hainan will carry out the publicity and promotion of Hainan Island Tourism Highway (version 1.0), hold the theme contest of "Finding Wonderful Four Seasons" and other activities, and strive to "brand" the island tourism highway, coastal attractions and post stations, attract more tourists to the "pearl necklace" of the island tourism highway, and strive to build a "golden signboard" of Hainan International Tourism Consumption Center.
